PRODUCTION NOTES - THE MUSIC
Also
noteworthy is that Steve composed and performed the majority of the
featured "pop" songs within the film, ranging from '70s falsetto
slow jams to country western anthems and underground hiphop. Just like
the style of film production, the style of music production was also
very independent and "D.I.Y" style. Calling upon the musical
talents of the many talented muscians in Steve's circle, most notably
the incredible score by Jeff Gray (composer and multi-instrumentalist
who is also a bandmate with Steve in the group P.I.C), the music was
recorded at a variety of studios, from Jeff's Greenpoint studio, to
38 Greene Street studios (with P.I.C music producer Adam Charity), and
the the omnipresent Sports Magic Animals Studio in Holmdel, NJ (helmed
by P.I.C DJ & SJK soundman, Gary Gabisan). Ever the mad scientist,
Jeff even managed to custom build microphone preamps that enabled the
score to get a very rich, lush sound without the rich, lush pricetag.
Other
musicians involved include Adam Charity, Blacksonny's Joel Bernardo,
Convertible Jennifers, Rick Bartow of Lovetester, and Pete Diamond.
